(II) soccer & human rights
The pressure on businesses within the various zones for soccer/football fans is enormous. A “basic rent” of 40.000 € has to be paid, there are minimum opening hours and charges for special cups. Also, the drinks and food which may be sold in the zones is restricted to major sponsors of the Championships. All in all, it seems to stretch the notion of freedom of property as enshrined in Article 5 of Austria’s Basic State Act.
